Healing Chronic Pain w/ Heather Arrigo

  • 1762 Massachusetts Avenue Lexington, MA, 02420 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

This 1.5 hour workshop will present the concept of neuroplastic pain and deliver an opportunity for you to start your healing journey.

If you are like me, you have already tried all the medical solutions. However, when none of these is able to eliminate the pain chances are your pain is no longer generated from your body, but rather your brain is sending the sensation of pain to that particular area of the body. Ironically, the more “fixing” you try and seek out for your body the more those pain messages are reinforced.

This pain is NOT in your head. It is not worry or anxiety. You can’t just get over it. It is real physical pain, but the solution to heal it most likely lies in a different approach than what we are used to in our society. Some of the most common symptoms of chronic pain are (but not limited to): Headaches/migraines, Pelvic Pain, Back Pain, Joints, and anything that has lasted longer than 6 months after injury/surgery or started with no injury.

What to expect: My personal pelvic pain story, option to share out what discomfort you are experiencing (option not to share), a brief description of neuroplastic pain and it’s various other terms (ie) tension myositis syndrome, mindbody syndrome, and a somatic tracking exercise to take you through a full body scan and meditation specifically designed to send messages of safety to the brain. I will share any and all resources I have with you about who the experts are in this field.

Bring a journal/ something to write with.

200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training- Fall 2024 - An Exciting Collaboration!

  • Google Calendar ICS

New this year! A revolutionary way to collaborate! LPY’s Lorraine Shedoudi & Yoga On Central’s Jen Murray join forces to run a teacher training with all the best resources & teachers!

Together, we’ll witness the emergence of smart and confident teachers as well as wise and thoughtful practitioners. This training will push you out of your comfort zone. You’ll have the opportunity to explore movement, breath work (pranayama), meditation, and learn how to speak confidently in front of a class. We’ll explore effective cuing as we examine what is happening anatomically when we ask students to move in and out of specific poses. We'll look at injury modifications, and how to teach to an ‘all levels’ group of students as well as specific populations. You’ll emerge with a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of yoga and how the yoga industry impacts the history and practice of yoga.

We will learn from traveling guests such as Alexandria Crow, creator of Yoga Physics. Alex’s unique perspective has revolutionized how we think about certain poses.

The LPY training is unique in that it offers support and mentoring well after your certification is complete. As you go out into the yoga world and begin to navigate the business of teaching public classes, we’ll be there to support you. The program’s lead teachers, Lorraine Shedoudi and Jen Murray have well over 20 years collectively of teaching experience. In their time at LPY, they have personally overseen the graduation of 10 groups of teacher trainees. Their commitment to continued education and ability to share what they have learned makes for smarter, stronger and more well-rounded yoga teachers.

Along side your lead teachers, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced and versatile teachers and mentors, Jen Murray, Jillian McDonough, Jen Geller, Allison Burke, Christelle Perrot who bring their own expertise, years of practical teaching experience, and their own unique perspectives. Together, with this powerful staff you’ll be supported, encouraged, and eager to learn more.

SHiNE Dance Fitness has cracked the code to create a strength-training program that’s the perfect balance of effective and fun! This is not a dance class, but each routine is choreographed to iconic music, and when safety isn’t compromised, you’re likely to find a shake or shimmy.

UPLIFT class starts with a cardio warm-up and transitions to standing routines with equipment, alternating between upper and lower body. A balance track is included after you’ve fatigued your muscles which is challenging, rewarding, and a welcome change of pace before transitioning to the mat. We complete the workout with routines for the core, booty, abs, and chest and a cool down with deep stretching. This UPLIFTING experience leaves you feeling strong and confident.

Donation Class! Wildflower - An org that supports kids who have lost a parent. W/ Jen M. & Lorraine

  • 1762 Massachusetts Avenue Lexington, MA, 02420 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join us on the Saturday 5/13 for an amazing fundraising class for an amazing cause. Wildflower is a non-profit that supports kids who have lost a parent.

It is hard to imagine anything more devastating to a child than the loss of a parent. Wildflower strives to help these young families with a unique approach that starts with the gift of camp!  Camp is so much more than a fun adventure for families who have faced the life-changing experience of loss. Summers are often the most challenging time for single-parent families. While parents work, children need a safe, nurturing place to go when the school year has ended.

The experience of carefree summer days, the comfort of making new friends and wonderful mentors, a break from the pain and stress at home is an invaluable experience for grieving children and a much-needed respite for the surviving parent. A child’s anticipation of another year at camp can soften the life stresses that come with the loss of a parent.

5/13 @ 1pm

Taught by Jen Murray & Lorraine Shedoudi
