Meet Gail! School Teacher, Family Focused, Barre Teacher

Tell the top 3 most important things in your life:

My relationships- My family, my boyfriend, and my friends are so important to my life and make me happy :) My faith- I have always been religious and rely on prayer and God to help me through life. Kindness- I always try to be kind and feel like this is so important in today’s world.

Why did you decide to do barre training?

I had a knee injury that would not heal. After months of trying P.T. and rest, and even a minor surgery, I still felt pain. So, I got a second opinion from a doctor. He told me what I needed where the 3 S’s: strength, stability, and stretching. I found all this and more in barre class. Amazingly, with the help of barre, I no longer experienced pain from simply walking, and felt stronger and healthier. I genuinely looked forward to barre class, and the work and fun it entailed. When I found out LPY was looking for teachers, I was so excited and honored for the opportunity to train to teach.

How do you use your barre training?

I love working out and this keeps me in shape and “zen.” I am getting paid to do a thing I love! It has allowed me to make extra money in the summers and after school from my teaching job without even feeling like work.

What's your favorite part of a barre class to teach?

I love thighs and glutes! I love thigh work because it is literally like physical therapy for my knee and makes me feel strong. As far as glutes, I love working muscles I didn’t even know I had prior to barre. I really notice results.

Funniest thing that has happened in a barre class?

I remember my first class-a community class where some of my friends came. It was so fun, full of energy, and I loved hearing the giggles of my non-barre going friends when I said things like ONLY “two more sets of eight” or “take a happy baby.”
